I’m finally home.
A wonderful lady named Alicia brought me home through her business, Traveling Grace LLC. She has been helping people around Biloxi for several years, and her business name was already well known and respected by the staff at Pillars. I can understand why. She gave me a safe, comfortable ride and treated me with genuine kindness.
Leaving Pillars was a good experience. The staff thanked me for being a good guy, and I thanked them for everything they did for me. I went through a lot while I was there, but I met some very caring people along the way.
Being home feels wonderful, but it is also challenging. Right now, I only have the walker, and getting around the apartment is difficult while I still cannot put weight on my right ankle. I have left a message with the wheelchair company letting them know that I am home and urgently need my new wheelchair. I’m hoping it arrives this afternoon—and that it is already assembled and ready to use.
I also moved tomorrow’s doctor appointment to Thursday. That gives me a little more time to get settled, hopefully receive the wheelchair, and figure out how to safely manage life at home.
This is not the easy part of the journey, but it is an important part.
I am home. I am grateful. And I am moving forward—one careful step at a time.
