BluPilot began after Jim Hamilton’s Fourth of July trike accident forced him into the world of walkers, wheelchairs, surgery, skilled nursing, and the daily negotiation required to cross a room safely.
The first mission is not another scooter. It is an electric rollator: a quiet walking companion for people who still want to walk but need intelligent assistance.
The origin
Jim spent years supervising one of the largest paratransit operations in the Seattle area. He watched seniors and people with disabilities fight to preserve the independence that other people barely notice.
At nearly eighty, he became the passenger, the patient, and the person who could not stand without help. That reversal made the design failure impossible to ignore: mobility products too often force people to choose between walking without enough support and surrendering walking altogether.

The product concept starts with a stable rollator frame and adds only the technology that makes walking safer, steadier, and more practical.

The Pillars is where the concept gained detail. Here, mobility is not an abstract market category. It is the difference between reaching the bathroom, transferring safely, protecting a healing leg, getting through a narrow doorway, resting before exhaustion, and eventually going home.
Any future involvement by staff, therapists, residents, or the facility would require clear permission. The opportunity is simple: listen respectfully to the people who know the problem every day.
The founder’s fit
Jim has programmed since 1969, supervised paratransit operations, built BluSup as an AI-assisted publishing platform, and is now living the mobility problem from the inside. He can be the first demanding user, the public storyteller, and the bridge between people who need better equipment and people capable of building it.
