Today I want to share something that didn't begin in a boardroom.
It began in a hospital room.
I'm writing this only a short time before surgery on my badly broken ankle.
Life has a funny way of slowing you down just long enough to make you see something you've been missing.
For years I supervised one of the largest paratransit operations in the Seattle area. I watched thousands of seniors and people with disabilities fight every day to keep something many of us take for granted:
Their independence.
Today, I'm the one learning how difficult that can be.
I've been living with walkers, wheelchairs, nurses, therapists, pain, and the simple frustration of not being able to stand up and walk across a room without assistance.
And one thought keeps coming back to me.
Why hasn't the walker evolved?
Today I'm introducing BluPilot.
BluPilot is a new company dedicated to reimagining mobility through thoughtful engineering, modern technology, and complete openness.
Our first mission is ambitious:
Design the world's best Electric Rollator.
Not a scooter.
Not a wheelchair.
A walking companion that quietly assists people who still want to walk but need just a little help.
Imagine smart hill assist.
Automatic braking on steep slopes.
Long battery life.
Comfortable seating.
Elegant design.
Simple controls.
Technology that gives people confidence instead of reminding them they're getting older.
But BluPilot is about much more than one product.
We're going to build in public.
Every engineering idea.
Every sketch.
Every prototype.
Every success.
Every mistake.
Everything documented for the world to see.
Engineers will be invited to contribute.
Medical professionals will help shape safety.
Caregivers will tell us what really matters.
Investors will be able to follow the journey from the very first concept instead of hearing about it after it's finished.
BluPilot will be powered by the same technology that drives BluSup, the platform I've been building with AI over the past months.
One creates websites.
The other will create better mobility.
I'm proud to be the face of this new company.
At nearly eighty years old, I believe experience still matters.
I believe curiosity never gets old.
I believe AI gives ordinary people the ability to build extraordinary things.
And I believe millions of people deserve better mobility products than they've been offered for decades.
If you're reading this at Lectric...
If you're an engineer...
If you're an investor...
If you've ever cared for someone who struggled to stay independent...
I'd love to have you join this journey.
This is only the first step.
Welcome to BluPilot.net
Let's build the future of mobility together.
