Well, I got done what I really needed to do today. I had an 8:30 doctor’s appointment with my new ankle doctor. He took the bulky half-cast and bandages off, removed the stitches, and put a new boot on me.
I like the boot, but I took it off as soon as I got home. I’m not going to put any weight on that ankle. The doctor said I could even get it wet in the shower, but I shouldn’t soak it in a bath.
I took a Lyft ride this morning with a great lady named Marie. Lyft and Uber drivers let me sit in the front seat, and they fold my W/C in half and store it in the trunk.
After the ankle doctor, I had another appointment with my new primary care physician, so I called Lyft again. My phone said “Charlie” would be there in a few minutes. It turned out to be my roommate—the Uber driver—who pulled up.
I had a couple of hours to kill, so I had him drop me off a few blocks from the doctor’s office. I had a donut and coffee and then pushed myself to the office.
I really like my new primary care doctor. We spent quite a while going over my past medical history, and I was stunned by how far back my medical records go.
So, I’m in good shape medically. I have two doctors, a great health plan—Humana—and a supplemental provider, Deaconess Health Care.
I just got a call from Mike, and he’s got a new one-legged walker for me. He’ll be coming by with it in about an hour.
I don’t really know why I have all this great medical care, but I’m very grateful for it all.
