That title still feels a little strange to write, because not long ago I was somewhere very different — physically, emotionally, and spiritually. I was in detox, trying to get my feet back under me, wondering what life was going to look like on the other side of those fences.
Now I’m on the other side.
I have a room. I have a new home base. I have good internet. I have my trike. I have this little blog. I have BluSup. I have a new city around me, and I’m slowly learning how to move through it.
I don’t have everything figured out. Not even close. Some days still feel confusing. Some things are harder than they should be, like transportation, banking, routines, and just getting from one side of a bridge to the other. But I’m here. I’m sober. I’m paying attention. I’m trying.
That matters.
There is a part of me that still wants to know exactly what I’m doing with the rest of my life. I keep asking that question, and maybe the answer is not one big dramatic revelation. Maybe the answer is smaller than that.
Maybe it starts with waking up sober.
Maybe it starts with making coffee.
Maybe it starts with writing one honest post.
Maybe it starts with building one useful thing, then another.
BluSup has become more than a website to me. It’s a kind of map. Not just a map of places, buses, banks, food, and local life — but a map of me trying to find my way back into the world. Every page, every button, every little repair has been part of a bigger repair happening inside me.
And MB, this personal blog, gives me a place to say the things that don’t belong on the public side. The softer things. The messy things. The hopeful things.
Right now, my life is not polished. It is not settled. It is not perfect.
But it is mine.
I am starting over in Biloxi. I am almost 80 years old, and somehow I am still beginning again. That could sound sad if I let it. But today, it feels powerful.
I still have curiosity. I still have work to do. I still have people to meet. I still have love in me. I still have ideas. I still have purpose.
So this is where I am currently:
Sober.
In Biloxi.
Learning the streets.
Building my tools.
Writing my truth.
Trying to become the man I still believe I can be.
And for today, that is enough.
