Today, BluSup 250 moved from being a finished website to becoming an active outreach project.
I now have a full spreadsheet called the BluSup 250 Outreach Command Center. It contains the events, public contact information, individual event links, ready-to-send email text, short messages, follow-up tracking, and a launch plan leading into July 4.
I have never used a spreadsheet before, so this is new territory for me. I installed LibreOffice Calc, opened the workbook, worked through a few early problems, and now I have it saved and running on my desktop.
What makes this especially meaningful is that I am not doing it for profit.
I am doing it because I love the computer and information business I have been part of since 1969. I still enjoy building something useful, organizing information, solving problems, and finding ways to connect people with what they are looking for.
BluSup 250 is my contribution to America’s 250th birthday celebration. The next step is getting the guide into the hands of the cities, parks, organizers, tourism offices, media outlets, and local people who can help spread the word.
The website is ready.
The outreach system is ready.
And, apparently, I am now learning spreadsheets at almost 80 years old.
Not bad for one afternoon.
