Federal Way mixes useful everyday stops with places worth slowing down for: Monarch Collision, Steel Lake, the bonsai and rhododendron gardens, Dash Point, and more.

ORTING FAMILY DAYS

A calmer family anchor south of Seattle

Orting is the quieter choice: Foothills Trail, river scenery, small-town pace, and a family day that does not need a downtown crowd.

SEATTLE DAY RUNS

Make a day of Seattle

From a South Sound home base, Seattle Center, Pike Place, the Aquarium, the Waterfront, and the Museum of Flight are all good reasons to make a day of the city.

Monarch Spotlight

FEATURED FEDERAL WAY BUSINESS

Monarch Collision Center

Monarch Collision Center in Federal Way is SeaBlu’s featured business — and this one is personal. My son Riley and his partners built their shop there.

They handle collision repair, paint and refinishing, and the kind of work you hope you never need but want done right when you do. Visit Monarch directly for current services and contact information.

Federal Way Collision Repair Paint & Refinishing Call First 2025 Gold Award

Award: Best in the PNW lists Monarch Collision Center as 2025 Gold for Best Auto Collision Center.

WHY IT IS HERE

A business with a family connection

SeaBlu is personal without being private. Monarch belongs here because it is part of Riley’s life in Federal Way and part of the community this guide is about.

I am proud to feature it, and even happier to point people toward a business my family has a hand in building.

About

WHY SEABLU

This part of Washington is personal

My son Riley and his family live here. I spent a lot of my own life around this part of Washington too. SeaBlu is not trying to cover every inch of Seattle — it follows the places that connect to real life around Kent, Federal Way, Orting and the city.

Some days that means a park or trail. Some days it means taking the kids somewhere indoors. Sometimes it is a Seattle day, and sometimes the best plan is staying closer to home.
