Today was one of those days where a little idea started feeling real.
BluSup 250 began as a simple thought: take America’s 250th birthday celebration and make it easier for people here in Mississippi and along the Gulf Coast to find the events, understand what is happening, and share them with others.
But a website is one thing. Getting it out into the world is another.
Today, with a lot of patience, a spreadsheet, a stack of contacts, and a good bit of back-and-forth problem solving, we launched the first real outreach push for BluSup 250.
We contacted local cities, tourism offices, parks, event organizers, state contacts, and national America250 channels. Some places had easy email addresses. Some had contact forms. Some had pages that only asked for my email and made me wait. Some required a little source-code digging to find the right contact. We found duplicates, avoided sending too many repeat messages, and figured out which events were better handled through a statewide umbrella contact instead of chasing every single listing one by one.
That might not sound glamorous, but it is the real work of bringing something to life.
And I have to say this: we did a great job together.
BluSup 250 is no longer just sitting quietly on a server. It has been introduced to the people and organizations connected to these celebrations. It is out there now. It has a chance to be seen, corrected, shared, and used.
That feels good.
I am proud of the care we took. We tried to be respectful. We did not spam people. We sent honest notes explaining what BluSup 250 is: a simple, phone-friendly regional guide meant to help people discover and share America 250 events across Mississippi and the Gulf Coast.
That is exactly what BluSup is supposed to be.
A small local tool.
A helpful guide.
A way to connect people, places, stories, and community.
Today also had a funny little personal touch. The date is 6/16/2026, and the digits add up to 23 — my lucky number. I do not know what to make of that, but I like it. It felt like a good sign on a good day.
So this post is my marker.
The first BluSup 250 outreach launch is complete.
The guide is live here:
Now we wait, we watch, we follow up where needed, and we keep building.
Small steps. Big celebration.
