I have been sharing here the sadness and the guilt I carry from separating my life from my daughters, decades ago.
Now an amazing thing has happened. She accepted the many texts I've sent her begging for forgiveness. She told me she holds no regrets and still loves me.
That's amazing, life restoring news. My guilt from that has been destroying me for a very long time, and lately it's been killing me.
I've learned a bit about her life in California now. She's a cafeteria supervisor at a charter high school and an assistant varsity flag football coach. She turns sixty next year and seems to be happy and enjoying her life.
And, we're working with my grand-daughter to spend as much of Christmas together as possible. I fly my daughter to Florida, get there myself, and we celebrate. Three generations.
