Biloxi, Mississippi was established 327 years ago, and some of its sidewalks seem to carry every one of those years.
This morning I was riding my trike to Family Dollar for a few supplies when I hit a chunk of concrete sticking up from the sidewalk. It threw me hard to the left, straight out into the road during rush hour.
I crossed two lanes before I could get control. I really could have died right there, but the traffic slowed and stopped while I dragged the trike back onto the sidewalk.
I had already fallen off the trike on Sunday, and I’m still sore from that. Fortunately, I’m in pretty good shape for an old guy, and I’ve got my grandmother’s blankets to sleep on tonight.
Some days remind you how fragile life is. Today was one of them.
