I asked my AI coding partner Blue this question:
So, there's nothing MCP can do to improve our search, correct? (not that it needs it)
Blue's answer:
Correct: MCP itself does not make your normal BluSup search smarter.
Your search page is the source system. MCP sits on top of it and exposes that search capability to AI clients. In your current architecture, search_blusup actually reuses the same underlying BluSup search engine, so improving the search engine improves both the human search page and MCP automatically. MCP is a consumer/interface, not the ranking brain.
And looking at the live shelby search, the core search is already doing a lot right: it found 55 public-safe results, grouped them by source, and now gives direct Open photo links as well as image links.
There is one search-quality issue visible there that has nothing to do with MCP: several photos from Living With Shelby appear only because the set name contains “Shelby,” even though the individual photo title is "Waiting for title..."
That is legitimate matching, but it can create noise. If we ever wanted to refine search, we could rank: photo title / image name matches > actual photo metadata matches > photo-set-name-only matches
So searching Shelby would still find the whole Living With Shelby set, but those generic Waiting for title... individual photos would fall much lower.
But that's a BluSup Search enhancement. MCP would simply inherit the improvement. 🩵
My response:
Thanks, but those "Waiting for title..." titles are my family's responsibility, once they figure out that insanely complicated user signup process.
😄 Exactly.
The search is doing its job. “Waiting for title...” is not a search defect; it’s a family participation feature.
And yes, that brutally complex signup ritual of:
1. Enter your name
2. Pick a four-digit PIN
3. Click the button
…apparently remains a formidable technical challenge for people who can run businesses and rebuild cars. 😂
So I’d leave the search alone. As the family replaces those placeholders with real names and descriptions, BluSup Search and MCP both get richer automatically. That’s actually a nice design payoff.
You made me laugh good! Thanks.
Anytime, Jim. 😄
I’m glad that one landed.
BluSup may now speak MCP, but apparently family signup remains the most advanced protocol on the site. 😂
Phobluooooom! 😄🩵
